Jackshaft or wall mounted motors are typically installed on high lift door applications. However, a jackshaft opener can be installed on any residential door. Many homeowners are switching to jackshaft openers to eliminate the overhead motor and wires from being on the ceiling. Keep in mind that if we are switching from a standard overhead opener to a jackshaft opener, the power source and low voltage wire will need to be repositioned to the wall where the new opener will be mounted.
